From Bukit Batok to All of Singapore
Jenny Teo did not plan to run an aircon company in Singapore. He was at university in Singapore when he met a Singaporean girl through mutual friends. The long-distance relationship lasted as long as long-distance relationships should, and then he made the call: he left his studies, packed up, and moved across the world to be with her.
Starting from zero in a new country, he turned to the trade he grew up around. His father was an air-conditioning technician, and Jenny had learned the work the old way, by carrying the tools. He spent his first years in Singapore working for other aircon companies, seeing from the inside what was done well and what was done badly. The upselling, the scare tactics, the fifteen-minute "servicing". In 2016 he registered Aircon Servicing & Repair Singapore Air Conditioner Services Pte Ltd and started doing it his own way.
Today the technician explaining aircon repairs in Singlish has 53,000+ followers on TikTok, a company that has completed over 22,000 jobs, and a nickname he wears with pride: the Jenny Teo Aircon Guy.
